NHGA to Sponsor State’s Best Bagger Sept. 23rd

The NHGA Board of Directors and Staff have once again agreed to participate in the National Grocers Association 2015 Best Bagger Contest, by hosting the official state competition. While NHGA was one of the first states to participate when this program began, the tradition continues again. This year New Hampshire will join over 25 other states sending their bag off champion to the national event next February in Las Vegas.

The Capital City in Concord has been quiet for the month of July, which is not unusual, especially in an election year.   While the wheels of the government bureaucracy grind on, most politicians are spending time in their districts, especially those running for reelection.  With the prospects of flipping both the New Hampshire House and Senate are high, both Democrats and Republicans are stepping up the campaign rhetoric.

Janet D. Dixon, 98


BEDFORD — Janet (Jeanette) Doris Dixon, 98, of Chipping Norton Lane, Bedford, passed away at her home on July 18, 2014. Janet was born in Newport, on Jan. 16, 1916, the third child of Ernest and Rose (Bazinet) Henault. She attended local schools and was graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1939, where she received the Alpha Xi Delta Cup. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John B. Dixon.

NHGA to Host State Bagging Competition

State champ wins trip to Las Vegas National Contest


The annual grocery bagging contest begins with an employee qualifying round at individual supermarkets, convenience stores and independent neighborhood markets. The winners of these local competitions are then qualified to represent their stores at the state competition to be held in September. Contestants will bag identical grocery orders consisting of no more than 40 commonly purchased items. Each contestant is then evaluated on speed, technique, style and attitude.
